Long weekends are a perfect excuse for a quick getaway. Whether you are jetting off somewhere or enjoying a staycation, here are a few of our favorite tips to make the most of a long weekend!
1. Make Plans in Advance
You don't have to plan out every detail of every day, but consider making plans earlier in the week so you don't have to spend precious time off figuring out what to do. Many destinations will have specials on three day weekends, so try to take advantage of them early on! Even if you are just planning to have a picnic or go on a walk, you are more likely to stick with your plans if you make them a few days in advance. This also gives you something concrete to look forward to all week!
Even if you do have big plans for your extra day off, be sure to allot some down time. This will allow you to slow down and enjoy weekend, or spend some quality time with family and friends. It will also leave you feeling more refreshed and ready to take on the week ahead.
3. Hit the Off Button
Technology is a huge part of most people's daily lives, but if you have a little extra time on your hands consider taking a short break from your devices. It may feel weird at first, but it will give you the freedom to give your full attention to other things in your life, especially if you are exploring a new place. Take this time to grab a meal with a friend or loved one, read a book, or just unwind without worry!
4. Head Outdoors
Camping is a great activity for a three day weekend, but you don't have to plan a trip to the mountains to enjoy the great outdoors. Since you have a little more time, think about walking somewhere you would normally drive, riding a bike around town or taking a day trip to the beach! The sunshine and fresh air will improve your mood and you may even get a little exercise in.
5. Catch Up
You can use at least one day of the long weekend to do things you have been putting off for lack of time and energy. Catch up on sleep, your favorite show book or TV show, or with an old friend you haven't talked to in a while! A three day weekend is a great chance to get a few things out of the way so you don't feel so busy and overwhelmed during the week.
